gearhead -screen snapshot – 2009

After a whirlwind adventure in second life which involved building virtual stuff and making virtual friends, i decided to check out for a bit but still didn’t feel like leaving sL for good just yet. i got me another character, Aetinne gearhead, and joined a Combat sandbox. the way it functioned was you first teleported to a lobby, then when you were ready you’d spawn yourself down below to a small city-like sandbox in which combat was allowed. here, some of the best shooters, teams and solos spent hours hunting each other down with ballistic weapons they had all purchased in SL. Dying meant being sent back up to the lobby.

i spent a couple months here. probably the most non building fun i had in my entire sL experience. at one time i was the terror of the danger zone, anyone who teleported below got sent right back up when i was there.

I recall a time when the entire lobby was full and i was the only one below, i’d like to imagine they were tired of being sent back to the lobby by my machine gun. During one of those “full lobby but no one in the sandbox” moments, i ducked into a building and took the image above. I remember posing and snapping the image just as i heard shots in the distance.
